We had been there that day, scurrying around thru the shops and the mall, and I had noticed previously a wonderful collection of spring flowers through out the shopping center. They gave a color and cheerfulness to the area. People were moving rather quickly, really appearing not to notice the beautiful flowers.

I have always thought that one can easily miss beautiful flowers if you do not look for them. They are everywhere to be seen. I encourage all to look and enjoy the beauty of nature and flowers. The spring colors in S. California are wonderful from the Golden Poppy (California's State Flower) to the pristine Icelandic Poppies that so many people plant for winter and spring color. They are everywhere!! And to go through life without the beauty and enjoyment of flowers must be a lost opportunity for all. A few favorite quotations which might express this idea follow:

"Many eyes go through the meadow, but few see the flowers in it."

----Ralph Waldo Emerson

"It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all."

----Laura Ingalls Wilder

"Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not."

----Georgia O'Keefe"

"The artist's world is limitless. It can be found anywhere, far from where he lives or a few feet away. It is always on his doorstep."

----Paul Strand

Here, then are a few of my Mall Flowers from S. California!

"Photography helps people to see."

----Berenice Abbott, US Photographer

"To be overcome by the fragrance of flowers is a delectable form of defeat."

----Beverly Nichols, English writer

"Flowers leave some of their fragrance in the hand that bestows them."

"Little things seem nothing, but they give peace, like those meadow flowers which individually seem odorless but all together perfume the air."----Georges Bernanos, French Novelist.
