"The writing of a poem is
like a child throwing stones into a mineshaft. You compose first,
then you listen for the reverberation."
---Fenton,
James
I have always liked and enjoyed poetry.
I remember in college studying American Literature and World Literature.
That was indeed long ago, and the interest remains with me. The
kind of poetry I write is free verse. That is poetry that does
not rhyme or have a regular meter. I like to say that my poetry
is in a 'conversation format.' This means to me that it is like
you(the reader) and I(the writer) sitting down and talking face
to face, and I describe something to you that I am thinking about
a flower or a place or a bird or something. Sprinkled throughout
my Digital Flowers web page is poetry that I have written about
a photo of something. I have decided to archive the free verse
in one page for those that would like to see and read all of them.
I am an amateur; and beg your patience and understanding of this
writing. It is for us who love flowers, birds and other things.
If you want really wonderful and meaningful poetry read Robert
Frost or Carl Sandburg. I love their writing. Enjoy your reading!!
I have done these for you, the reader. BT-June 25, 2007.

The Waning Days
Of November are here.
It is as though the American
Deep Red
Has decided to set the tone
And bloom profusely with
The Red Claret hue of Christmas.
In these cool and foggy days
of November
We are reminded of the nearness
of the Holiday.
Nature again enters our lives
to
Bring us the message:
"Christmas is coming---and
soon!"
See the Scarlet Red of the Americana!
See it glow with its message.

Spring in the
Fall
It appears that
Spring is here in the Fall!
Can it be? We
ask and wonder.
The warmth of
the balmy air and
The sunshine
spins haloes about the Geraniums,
Blending together
the colorful tints of
The beautiful
and wonderful florets
Of the blossoms.
We who love flowers
are doubly blessed!
It is Spring
in the Fall!

Maroon, your color is fantastic!
How were your hues brought together
There where flower colors are
made?
I grow more fascinated with your

Each day, and with the man-made

You make my day without an equal

The blossoms speak it clearly,
With their neon hues so
Generously spread throughout
The terraces of the garden.
The winter is moving out,
At least here on the coastal
plains
Where we reside with nature
Painting the landscape with beauty.
The cold days and nights go somewhere
else;
While we bask and watch the season
Gently meander into our lives
again, as before,
Bringing peace, tranquility,
peace of mind
And a feast of colorful blossoms.
