Fota House is located near Cork City, Co. Cork in the Republic of Ireland. We have been there often, and it is historical and very beautiful. One can almost feel the history that has occurred there. The house is under the administration of The Irish Heritage Trust, and restoration is now going on. These photos have been taken on our recent trips there. We always seem to go there when in Ireland. I am sure we will, in the Fall of 2009 when perhaps we shall return to that beautiful and very green land. The House sits on an island sharing a very large park area with a zoo and beautiful gardens. We always walk through the Gardens after parking in the parking areas, and that gives one a wonderful view of the beauty of the gardens.

"To be ignorant of what occurred before you were born is to remain perpetually a child. For what is the worth of a human life unless it is woven into the life of our ancestors by the records of history? "

"One must always maintain one's connection to the past and yet ceaselessly pull away from it. To remain in touch with the past requires a love of memory. To remain in touch with the past requires a constant imaginative effort." -- Gaston Bachelard
